I AGREE with councillors Henderson and McClenaghan, who have argued a new location should be considered for the Hepburn Hub proposal.

Cr Nicolas said "we have to think of not what the hub will look like today, but what it will mean for our children and our children's children."
Our single largest industry in the Daylesford township is tourism. One of the reasons tourists come to Daylesford is the unique history, character and charm of our town.
We have wonderful vistas of hills, church spires, old buildings and the iconic town hall comfortably nestled in the middle.
Why build an ugly four-storey glass block right in the middle of town? Tourists come to Daylesford to escape modern high rise; it would be out of place in this township. Parking is also a major issue.
Tourists need easy parking in the retail sector. Residents coming to town on council business, council staff and pool patrons will take up valuable parking where it is most needed for our thriving tourist industry. The tourist centre seems to function well where it is and does not need to be attached to a shire office.
I say, consolidate all council admin activities at one facility on a well-planned, landscaped, single-level site on the outskirts of town and build a pool next to it with adequate parking for both.
The space currently occupied by the council town hall and the pool could perhaps be earmarked for a future upgrade to showcase our local artists and sculptors.
