Ballarat referees Cory Skilton and Rhys Shelmerdine will officiate in the Football Federation Victoria Regional Challenge Trophy final at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium tomorrow.
FFV regional referee coach Alan Clark said the appointments confirmed the quality of soccer officials being produced in Ballarat.
He said each had experience in higher leagues in Melbourne as well Ballarat competitions.
“Cory will definitely be appearing in many more games of this standing in the coming years, and Rhys shows plenty of promise. Together they make a very solid team.”
Clark said there were fantastic opportunities for those wanting to be referees.
“The FFV is always looking to recruit more.
“It’s a great way to use your football knowledge and be paid to keep fit,” he said.
Cobram Victory and Morwell Pegasus meet in the final, which puts together two most successful regionally-based teams in the Statewide Knockout Cup.
Regional Challenge Trophy is a curtain raiser to the State Knockout Cup final between Port Melbourne Sharks and Dandenong Thunder.
