Chris Kerrigan was sitting in a cafe in Portland on Monday when she noticed the marsupial casually walking down the main street.
The koala was certainly not camera shy, stopping to strike a pose for a young boy who was taking a photo.
Ms Kerrigan captured the adorable moment on her phone and uploaded a 46 second video to Facebook, where it has been viewed more than 600,000 times.
"So I'm sitting at one of our local cafes minding my own business and this little guy casually strolls past," she wrote.
"I love Portland, It's never boring, that's for sure."
The koala seemed unperturbed by the attention it received as it sauntered along the footpath past diners, shoppers and facinated children.
Ms Kerrigan said the koala eventually crossed the road with a group of people before returning to the comfort of a tree on the foreshore.
"Apparently he waddled down the street, crossed the road with some people and climbed up a tree on the foreshore," she said.
"It caused a lot of laughs."
