The Lakers landed another major signing on Friday, with Maryborough captain Luke Bucknall lodging a clearance to join the club.
Bucknall, the Magpies' standout player in recent years and one of the better players in the Bendigo Football League, is the latest big name to join Lake Wendouree.
His signing comes hot on the heels of 2010 premiership player Nathan Pring, ruckman Jackson Bowen and former GWS Giant and favourite son Steve Clifton.
Lakers coach Gavin Webb said Bucknall was expected to play an on-ball/wing role for the green, gold and blue.
"Just from watching him train, he looks like he is going to be a valuable inclusion for us," Webb said.
"That's probably where we lacked a bit was somebody with his experience. He is about 25 and should really help out our younger guys."
Bucknall has been one of Maryborough's most consistent players in recent years, often the standout player in one of the Bendigo league's struggling sides.
He played 102 games over the last six seasons and claimed a club best and fairest in 2013.
Webb said there was genuine excitement at the newly resurfaced Wendouree Reserve, one that had not been felt for some time.
"We're building, but it has been a slow build," he said.
"On paper we've probably got a pretty good side building but you still have to put it together and that remains to be seen yet."
The Lakers snuck into finals by percentage in 2014 before being knocked out in the elimination final.
Their 2015 campaign starts with a clash against Ballarat at Alfredton Oval on April 18.
