He will be an ambassador for Active April, a program that aims to get people into good exercise habits.
“It’s a shame you have to have a month for it, really,” Moneghetti said.
“We hope it makes people think a bit about their own activity.”
People and schools can sign up to the program online, and then use an Active April app to track their activity.
The goal is 30 minutes of exercise a day.
Moneghetti was at St Francis Xavier Primary School on Friday talking about staying active.
The school’s physical edu-
cation co-ordinator Mark Stahl said it was important to keep kids moving.
“When they’re doing sport, we try and make sure they’re never sitting down,” he said. “It’s important to get that message in early, to get them moving about.”
The school is clearly not having too many issues with inactivity, with two pupils taking part in state cross-country races and others keeping active in sport.
Pupil Halle Martin said she would not be challenging
“Mona’s” Lake Wendouree record any time soon, but perhaps she was being modest.
Mr Stahl said the April program would also help kids get their parents moving as it could be a family challenge.
