BALLARAT City Council featured seven new faces after residents dumped four incumbents during the council elections.
Only outgoing mayor David Vendy and Central Ward councillor Liz Sheedy were returned for another term, as residents took a stand at a perceived lack of consultation by the previous council with the community.

Ballarat experienced a wet night with 14.6mm of rainfall recorded since Tuesday at 9am.
On Wednesday we can expect a possible morning shower, before a top of 23 degrees.
Thursday will see maximum temperatures reach 28 degrees ahead of a cool change later that night.
Friday will reach a top of 17 degrees.

07:31 AM: Ambulance Victoria were not called to any trauma cases in the Ballarat region on Tuesday night.
07:27 AM: Ballarat police also experienced a quiet night.
However there is bad news coming out of Melbourne, with homicide squad detectives investigating the death of a female at a reserve in Doncaster.
Police were called to the Stanton Street reserve around 7pm.
The female has yet to be formally identified and investigators are piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death.

►BURNIE: WEST Coast mayor Phil Vickers has urged the federal government to finalise the renewable energy target (RET) soon to allow for a start on a wind farm project at Granville Harbour. ► BUNBURY: A two week trial has started in the Perth District Court for a former Bunbury doctor charged with sexually assaulting 10 female patients. Ranjit Kumar Panda, 59, was a GP at the Forrest Family Practice in 2012 when he was charged with 20 counts of indecent assault and five counts of sexual penetration without consent. READ MORE HERE.
► ALBURY/WODONGA: A Wodonga home packed with 10 people has been gutted by fire, with the occupants forced to quickly flee the burning brick house yesterday morning. Shannon Regulski, 16, went to bed at 3am yesterday and left five candles burning. She was woken by her frantic mother, Natalie, about 8.30am as the home became engulfed in smoke and flames. ► ISRAEL: The campaigning went down to the wire, with frantic text messages and Facebook videos from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing Likud party attempting to rally Israelis to his cause.
"The right-wing government is in danger. Arab voters are coming out in droves to the ballot booths," Mr Netanyahu said in a Facebook message following news that voter turnout amongst Arab Israelis was much higher than in previous elections.

► US: A United Airlines flight headed for Denver from Washington D.C. has been turned around after a man failed to comply with crew instructions and had to be restrained on board the plane, according to news reports.
United Airlines spokesman Luke Punzenberger confirmed Flight 1074 headed for Denver International Airport on Monday evening returned to Washington Dulles International Airport shortly after take off. READ MORE HERE.
Building her career in a male-dominated sector has seen Ashleigh Stiling named Whyalla Business Woman of the Year.
In the 20 year history of Harsco Metals in Whyalla, Mrs Stiling has been the only female operations shift coordinator out of 100.
While the business has a number of female employees, its operations sector was predominantly male.
Mrs Stiling started at Harsco Metals about six years ago when she was offered a 12 month contract.
She was completing a Bachelor of Business and Enterprise at Whyalla UniSA campus when she was approached for the role.
The mining boom saw Mrs Stiling promoted to quality and training coordinator.
About two years ago, Harsco South Australia general manager Dan Tucker noticed Mrs Stiling's strong work ethic and saw an opportunity for a female to join the site's management team to change the company's culture. MORE HERE.
