New baby the 'best present ever'

IF ONE daughter made Sumit Bawa happy, the birth of his second daughter was an unbeatable Father’s Day gift.

His new daughter, yet to be named, was born yesterday at 12:42pm.

“This is the best thing, the best present ever. I couldn’t have asked for anything more,” Mr Bawa said.

The smile did not leave his face as he looked upon his newborn daughter.

He and his wife Daska Saleeba have been married for just over two years. Their first daughter, Che, was born last May.

Ms Saleeba said she couldn’t have married a better father, making Father’s Day an appropriate birthday for daughter number two.

“He has just been the most loving and perfect dad to Che, I couldn’t have married a better father,” Ms Saleeba said.

The baby weighed 2870 grams and was one of three  Ballarat babies born on the special day, with two babies born at the Ballarat Base Hospital and one born at St John of God.

Mr Bawa said the feeling of being a father for the second time was hard to explain.

“I’ll stay smiling forever,” Mr Bawa said.
