Darren Weir saddles up the outstanding sprinter in a heat of the 955m challenge.
Apprentice jockey Dylan Dunn will claim 3kg to drop her weight to 59kg.
Now a six-year-old, Platelet has been sparingly raced in the past 12 months.
She is set to repeat last year’s racing pattern, with Adelaide again on the radar.
Platelet won first-up over 955m at Moonee Valley on March 21 last year and went on to produce three consecutive seconds in the group 3 Irwin Stakes, 1100m, group 1 Sangster Stakes, 1200m,
and gropup 1 Goodwood, 1200m, at Morphettville in April-May.
The millionaire sprinter won the Sangster-Goodwood double in 2013.
Weir will also have Hotel Sierra first up in the event.
Hotel Sierra has become a MV 955m specialist.
She has had her past four starts over the trip at MV for a win in December and three seconds.
This will be her first start since finishing second to Beach Front on December 12.
Her record on the track is two wins and four seconds from six visits – all at 955m.
AZKAR will share the top weight in the $350,000 Mornington Cup, 2400m, on Saturday.
The Darren Weir-trained stayer will carry the number one saddlecloth in the listed event, which guarantees the winner a start in the Caulfield Cup.
Akzar and the Team Hawkes-trained Entirely Platinum each have 59kg coming off runs behind Spillway in the Australian Cup.
Akzar finished seventh – one behind Entirely Platinum.
Weir has also accepted with veteran Gotta Take Care.
Ballarat’s Archie Alexander will saddle up Renew, which has drawn wide in barrier 13.
Alexander’s other acceptor Martinvast is third emergency.
ANDREW Payne landed a double at Benalla on Tuesday.
He combined with his sister and jockey Michelle Payne to get the money with New Zealand-bred Junuh ($8) in a maiden, 1406m, and Newspaper ($2.25 favourite) in a benchmark64 handicap, 1206m.
A five-year-old, Junuh was having only his fourth start.
The Ballarat gelding made his debut in New Zealand in May, 2013, and did not race again until his first outing for Payne in mid-January.
Newspaper’s only previous win had been at Mildura in August 2013, but he has been a consistent earner with four minor placings.
BARRY and Glen James also picked up a double at Terang on Monday.
Steep ($4.60) made the most of a 4kg claim by Nathan Punch to take out a benchmark70 handicap, 1406m, and then Money Chaser ($4.40) won a benchmark64 handicap, 1006m. This takes Steep’s career standings to seven wins and almost $130,000 in stakes.
Money Chaser has four wins and just shy of $40,000 in earnings.
