The Ballarat Choral Society were invited to perform with Victoria Chorale after they hoped to present a second performance of their April program Music in War and Peace in regional Victoria.
For the last three months the Ballarat Choral Society has been deep in rehearsals preparing for the upcoming performance at St Patrick's Cathedral which will include Schubert's Mass No 2 in G, Haydn's Farewell Symphony and Elgar's For the Fallen and To Women.
"Rehearsals for the upcoming concert are progressing well, not only the Schubert Mass, but also the Elgar and Brumby works," Ballarat Choral Society member Dolores Nolan-Reid said.
Ms Nolan-Reid said the performance will be an opportunity for the Ballarat community to hear beautiful choral and orchestral music.
"The afternoon is a musical reflection on war and peace," she said.
"These are poignant poems about those who lost their lives and those left behind during the First World War.
"The world premier of Augustam Amice by Andrian Pertout will also be performed."
The conductor of the afternoon is Mario Dobernig.
April's concert and Ballarat Choral Society's November performance of The Armed Man - Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins are part of the centenary of Anzac landing at Gallipoli activities taking place in the local community.
