Arriving in Australia last month, Tandy and the Strine Singers have already completed most of their national tour with the final show set for Castlemaine on Saturday.
Tandy, who has spent the last year breaking into the Canadian music scene said she looked forward to returning to Australia to share their first single Shut Down.
"Our band is in two different hemispheres, so this tour is about getting back together and making sure we're on the same creative page," she said
Talking about the new single, Tandy said she has been overwhelmed with the reception from audiences on the tour so far about the new song.
"Shut down is an upbeat song which came out of dark days," she said.
"I'm not much of a downer, I'm usually upbeat, but I've had a challenging time. So with this song I was trying to channel the positive vibes.
"Everyone has the person in their life you always go to, she is no longer in my life so this song is what about advice she would have given me.
"We chose this to release first because we liked the feel of it and thought it was what out album offered lyrically."
Having become renown for their harmonies and song craft, the Strine Singers have had a successful year dedicated to perfecting their upcoming album, and that album's success could be put down to one particular reason - Strine Singers is made up of Tandy's brother, best friend and her best friends brother.
Performing with a group of people who she already knew, Tandy said was the best decision she could have made.
"Touring for a little band can be gruelling ... and on the road bands are made or broken," she said.
"But working with this band eliminates all that drama, you know how to argue without the drama and you don't have to tiptoe around egos.
"My brother and I always played together, we know each other so well."
