It was all part of their yearly fundraising day for Clown Doctors.
Staff stayed up late on Thursday night baking more than 500 cupcakes to sell on Friday and dressed up as clowns in support of the Humour Foundation.
Ballarat CommBank manager Brent Triplett said it was hoped more than $1000 would be raised on Friday to support Clown Doctors.
“Throughout fundraising day, we hope to help the Clown Doctors achieve their goal of conducting more Clown Rounds in hospitals across Australia,” he said.
“We’re all very passionate about Clown Doctors because many of us have young families.
“For children in hospital, having the support of Clown Doctors supports their families and provides a happier environment for them.”
Local residents were encouraged to come into the branch, share some laughs with staff and make a donation.
The idea to dress up and bake was the brainchild of staff member Jasmine Jolly, who said the support from the community was always great.
“We have a lot of customers who know it’s on each year and love supporting it, and local businesses come in and buy cupcakes for their staff for morning tea,” she said.
“Who couldn’t love a cupcake that’s supports a great foundation?”
CommBank branches throughout Australia will be raising funds in the lead- up to the Clown Doctors’ national day of fundraising, Smile Day, on April 1.
