A burglar who stole a large television set from a Melbourne medical supply shop on Saturday morning has made his getaway in a passing taxi.

Stonington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hunting for a man who broke into a store in Maples Lane, Prahran, about 6.30am and stole a 55-inch Soniq television.
The burglar walked out of Maple Lane into High Street, hailed a passing taxi, then loaded the television into the rear seat.
He returned to the side of the road to pick up another box, kicking out at a moving car as he returned to the taxi, falling to the ground where two other northbound cars were forced to swerve to avoid him.
The man eventually returned to the taxi and was driven away from the scene.
Police describe the man as Aboriginal in appearance, wearing a jacket, dark coloured-pants and a fawn coloured tartan Fedora hat.
A second Caucasian man may have been with the offender.
