More than 500 dogs from throughout Victoria romped around a sun-kissed Morshead Park, competing for a number of prizes.
Furry, small, gaunt and funny-looking dogs all played a part in a social day out for the animals and their owners.
Charmaine Allen brought her monstrous Tibetan mastiff, Bonno along from near Warrnambool.
The 2½-year-old Bonno came to Australia via the
Czech Republic and competed in the utility section of the show.
Ms Allen said that for her the day was about sharing her interest in dogs with other like-minded people.
Judge Doreen Duffin has been showing basenjis – a central African hunting dog – for more than 40 years.
She said the dog world was a marvellous place and it kept her interested.
Committee member for the Sovereign City Kennel Club, Dot Harrison, said the show had a magnificent array of dogs.
She said the show, which has been going for more than 30 years, was a highlight of the social calendar for dog lovers.
