While Queenslanders spruik their motto, “Beautiful one day, perfect the next”, Ballarat locals are more likely to talk about a city that requires a singlet one day and a beanie the next, or a combination of both.
This week’s weather will be no different.
Monday was a beautiful autumn day, with rather warm temperatures. Tuesday is predicted to reach a balmy 26 degrees, and Thursday, lo and behold, could reach 27 degrees.
Locals will start to tan; they’ll put away the woolly jumpers they pulled out of the closet last week; and then they will be caught off guard when it starts to rain and the temperature plummets on Friday.
“The next couple of days will be crackers, but don’t get too used to it,” Weatherzone meteorologist Ben McBurney said on Monday.
“Tuesday will be very nice, as will Wednesday, and temperatures will be warm.
“But from late Thursday onwards, a cool change will come through and it will get damper.”
Mr McBurney said it won’t get too cold, with temperatures set to hover around 19 and 20 degrees on Thursday and Friday, but he warned Friday would get wet.
“There is a high chance of showers late on Friday and even storms heading into the Easter long weekend,” he said.
“Friday and Saturday are definitely the days you have to look out for.”
