But if you feel like you're missing out on the fun and the drop toilets, we have you covered. Here's a list of seven reasons why you'll be glad you didn't go camping this Easter.

1. The chances of finding a secluded camping spot are slim. 

Tens of thousands of Victorians will be hitting campgrounds across the state this weekend. That means no matter which direction you head, the chances of pitching a tent next to a group of 18-year-olds partaking in their annual bush doof is particularly high this weekend.

2. Your kids crying because the kangaroos beat them to the Easter egg hunt.

The Easter egg hunt - it's an Australian tradition. But it turns out our local wildlife have a taste for Cadbury chocolate eggs too, and by the time the kids grab their baskets and race out the (tent) door all that will be left is a few pieces of shredded foil and some animals nursing a very sore stomach. Cue flood of tears.

3. Speaking of floods, it's going to rain this weekend. And possibly storm. 

While parents are trying to find ways to entertain their kids within the confines of a tent, and tensions are running high over which mate is going to sit in the rain and cook dinner, you're sitting in the comfort of your lounge room with your favourite blanket binge-watching your favourite TV show. If you feel like getting out of the house, you might drive around the city re-enacting scenes from the Melbourne-set apocolyptic film On The Beach, because the rest of the city is in the bush playing out the aforementioned scenarios.

4. Because camping means no mobile phone range, and no mobile phone range means no footy scores.

Sure, dedicated and well-planned campers have targeted a nearby pub to catch the game, but are you really going to take the chance? The thought of having no phone reception is too much to bear for the die-hard. Watching footy without the option of live tweeting, it just isn't right. And of course, who wants to miss out on actually being at the game to get a first taste of the newly-priced $4 pie at the 'G?

5. The traffic. 

You sit in traffic every other day of the year, why do that to yourself on Easter long weekend? Any arterial you turn, you bet there will be a stream of SUVs full to the back window. There's no pleasure in stress-eating your Easter egg haul. Take a load off. Stay home.

6. Camp toilets.

Enough said. Even if you go the "clean" way and dig your own toilet hole, it still doesn't compare to modern plumbing. Call us soft, that's fine. But only the hardcore find joy in that kind of camping.

7. Because, church. 

That's right, Easter has something to do with Christianity. For some, Easter may be one of only a couple of times a year you make it to church (although as far as your Nanna is concerned, you're there every Sunday of course). The Jewish Passover celebration also falls on the same time as Easter this year, which means more family time, and less tent pitching.
