St Patrick’s College senior students have given out chocolates at this time of year for more than 10 years. They visited Nazareth House, Ballarat Base Hospital and St John of God.
Breast cancer patient Kerren Goodwin said it was absolutely lovely to see the boys on what was usually a hard day.
“It’s absolutely beautiful,” she said.“This will be the first year we do an Easter egg hunt this weekend. I’ve got two grandchildren – two and six months,” Ms Goodwin said.
The day is driven by the school’s St Vincent de Paul Society which encourages families to donate chocolate to the cause during Lent.
Year 12 student Alec Robinson said it was a simple deed that helped others.
“It brings more quality to the community, and it’s an opportunity for us to give back,” he said.
Year 11 student Brayden Ward said the donated chocolate almost filled an office.
“It’s so easy to give up a day of your holidays when you get to see the people’s faces when you give them chocolate.”
