THE big news at the end of the day is that Tasmanian sprinting sensation Jack Hale is through to Monday's Stawell Gift semi-finals.
He progressed as one of the fastest losers from Saturday's heats.
Making his Stawell debut off a tight mark of 2.25m, he finished second to Bikramjeet Singh in his heat.
BALLARAT will have three runners in Monday's Stawell Women's Gift semi-finals, with Cleo Anderson and Tara Domanschenz producing two of the 12 fastest losing heat times.
They join heat winner 16yo Grace O'Dwyer.

Stawell Gift heats get under way at 1.10pm.
1pm - MELANIE Whelan reports that Ballarat teenager Grace Dwyer is being talked up as a major contender for the $60,000 Stawell Women's Gift final.
O'Dwyer, running off 10.25m, impressed in winning the fourth 120m heat 13.53 seconds - one of the fastest times of the day.
She is a daughter of multi Stawell Gift finalist Peter O'Dwyer.
Tara Domanschenz (Ballarat) also ran well for a second in the 16th and last heat to progress to Monday's semi-finals.
Last year's women's gift winner Holly Dobbyn (Ballarat) found her tougher handicap and lack of race fitness off the back of injury too much to overcome.
