A 75-YEAR-old man has undergone surgery after he was struck over the head with glass bottle during a dispute yesterday.
Detective Senior Constable Chris Hardiman said the victim had driven from his home in Enfield to PETstock in Latrobe Street, Ballarat after he had been glassed.
He said when the man got out of his car with a towel around his head, a person came to his aid.
“No arrests have been made. We are continuing with our investigations,” Detective Senior Constable Hardiman said.
“We believe the offender is a known male to the victim who glassed him with a bottle following an argument.”
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4pm.
Police cordoned off part of the car parking area out the front of PETStock, where the man’s red Ford Falcon wagon was parked.
Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Gabrielle Degenhardt said paramedics arrived to find the man bleeding from the ear.
“He had suffered stab wounds to his head,” she said.
“He is conscious, breathing and is in a stable condition.”
The man was transported by ambulance to the Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital, where he underwent surgery last night.
The condition of the man was unknown late last night.
