Despite a very static phone line during their interview with The Courier it was clear the group were looking forward to their Australian debut which includes their performance at The Eastern on Friday.
"We've always wanted to come to Australia ... the timing of the new album has worked perfectly," guitarists Jason Powell said.
And while they haven't had the chance to meet many Australian fans in the flesh, they're ready for what ever the Aussies throw at them.
"I'm assuming they will be wild," he said.
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the trio has long built a reputation of mixing classic surf instrumentation and garage rock, and this May they will release their new album Darling ... It's Too Late.
But Aussie fans are in for a treat with a sneak peak of what to expect on their forthcoming album, including performances of their new single Too Late.
Speaking about their new album, Powell said the songs are their strongest yet.
"We've been working on Too Late for a long time, it changed a lot along the way," Powell said.
"When we recorded the new album, Too Late turned our to be the one song we all thought to be the strongest.
"The quality of this album is better than the last."
This time around the band opted to travel to Atlanta's Living Room Recorded to record their album with Powell returning to his studio in Portland to put on the finishing touches.
Although the album has slightly a different sound to their previous records, there is still that rough-hewn feel that band have become known for still intact.
Too Late features the backing vocals from soul singer Curtis Harding.
