After more than two years they return with a new EP and the chance to perform in the warmth of Babushka Bar.
The husband and wife duo has told fans to expect the unexpected on the national tour in support of their EP Microwave Jenny and The Six Song EP.
Tessa and Brendon Boney moved to London in early 2014, and whether it was the weather, the food or the people that inspired them, they have returned to Australia with six new songs they can’t wait to share with fans.
“We moved to London with no plans. We just took our guitars and went with the aim of writing new material,” Tessa said.
“We came up with a heap of new material... it’s the normal Microwave Jenny with a UK twist.”
A crowd-funding campaign supported the new EP. The response from fans completely blew Tessa and Brendon away.
“We were nervous when starting the campaign thinking no one would support us ... in three days we hit our target,” she said.
“We were walking around London smiling after that, which you never see anyone doing in London.”
Talking about their new EP, Tessa said the sounds varied slightly from previous songs.
“It’s more of a fuller UK pop sound,” she said.
“We’re still the same, the songs are still story based, but we’re using different instruments and gadgets.”
Continuing with their busy lives, Tessa and Brendon are expecting their fi rst child in July, but there are plans for another album.
In previous years Microwave Jenny has had songs feature on hit Australian television series Gods of Wheat Street and Offspring. They have also performed at Woodford Folk Festival, The Dreaming Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Byron Bay’s Bluesfest.
