The opening night of the show will see $5 from every ticket sold donated to the Ballarat District Nursing and Health.
Friends of Ballarat District Nursing and Health co-ordinator Barbara Hughes said it was not the first time BLOC had chosen to donate to BDNH.
“We have had quite a bit of success over the past few years, so we are delighted that we are going to be able to do it again,” she said. “Initially we raised money for the new (Sturt Street) building. Last year, the money went to things we did for people in some of the homes where the nurses went out and saw what they required, from a health point of view.
“The money supports us, but (in attending the show) it also supports the young people out there in the community that are interested in a career in the theatre or having the experience of being in a live show and you wouldn’t get that in a lot of places.”
BLOC president Jason Muller said the opening night would be on May 7 at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
“We are a big community organisation. We are made up of volunteers and we are a not-for-profit organisation and we want to contribute to the community,” he said.
“Utilising what we do to help other charities in the community is just a fantastic idea and it has been going on with BLOC for many, many years.”
