Four second-half goals to Chris Giampaolo has seen Redan start its season with a solid win over East Point.
The class of the Lions midfield shone through in a high quality affair, with Waubra recruit Nick Sullivan impressing in his first match at his new club.
A spirited second-quarter saw East Point recover from a slow start and press the Lions, before the home side kicked away early in the third.
New Roo Daniel Semmens was influential through the middle of the ground, while Daniel Tung had plenty of the ball off half back and through the middle.
Brent Fitzpatrick and Angus Martin booted three each for the visitors.
BACCHUS MARSH 15.11 (101) d SEBASTOPOL 5.7 (37)
The final scoreboard probably does not do Sebastopol justice in this encounter.
There were definite signs of improvement from the Burra compared to last year, only they failed to make much of in impact on the scoreboard.
Bacchus Marsh kicked 10 of its 15 goals in two 10-minute patches in both the first and third quarters.
But aside from that, Sebastopol was more than competitive.
Peter Shepherd kicked five goals in his first game for the Cobras, including the first three of the match.
North Ballarat Roosters-listed players Rowan Marshall and Matt Austin were among the best for Sebastopol.
MELTON SOUTH 12.13 (85) drew with MELTON 12.13 (85)
Another Melton derby for the ages, this time a spectacular draw.
Melton South looked home when it led by 26 points half-way through the last quarter, only for the Bloods to miraculously kick the last four goals of the match.
In fact, Melton hit the front by one point in the dying misses before Melton South's Brendan Hooper missed a shot at goal to lock up the scores with about 30 seconds left.
Fran Holzer booted seven for Melton South, while Chris Tarrant only kicked two in the first quarter in his guest appearance.
Star Melton recruit James Mulligan injured his hamstring and is set for a stint on the sidelines.
LAKE WENDOUREE 12.11 (83) d BALLARAT 9.4 (58)
Lake Wendouree has got its season off to a flyer with a 25-point win over Ballarat.
The Lakers were in full control against the Swans for most of the day, taking an unassailable 46-point lead into the final break.
To Ballarat's credit, it fought back to boot four goals to the Lakers' none in the final term, but it was too little, too late.
Jackson Bowen was dominant in the ruck in his first game in Lakers' colours, while Tim Madden and Steve Clifton made triumphant returns.
For Ballarat, it was the older players that held their heads high, with Luke Brennan, Nigel Otto, Tristan May and Adam Sewell all among the best.
Youngster Mitch Martin chipped in with three goals.
DARLEY 23.13 (151) d SUNBURY 10.11 (71)
There were certainly no false starts for Darley this season, smashing Sunbury to the tune of 80 points at Darley Park.
Jake Edwards was a standout best on ground with seven goals, while former Collingwood and Brisbane Lions star Shane O'Bree was also the best players.
The win gets the Devils season off to the best possible start, as opposed to last year's shock loss to the Lions in round one.
For Sunbury, Ben Said convered three goals, with young duo Mitch Conn and Dylan Tarczon listed among the best players.
