They include the Ballarat Community Health headquarters in Lucas by DesignInc, which is entered in the Public Architecture (New) category, and Federation University’s School of Science and Engineering building, designed by Jacobs Group (Australia) Pty Ltd, which is in the Educational Architecture section.
Ballarat District Nursing and Healthcare’s new Sturt Street offices, designed by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, have been entered in the Commercial Architecture category.
Two Lake Wendouree properties, one designed by John Wardle Architects and one by Inarc Architects, are both entered in the Residential Architecture Houses (New) section.
Prospect House in Durham Lead, designed by Breathe Architecture, is in
both the Small Project Architecture and Residential Architecture Houses (New) categories.
Australian Institute of Architects Victorian chapter president Peter Malatt said the awards aimed to celebrate the architecture industry’s best achievements.
“We received a number of very strong entries from regional practices and projects, highlighting the diverse and brilliant talent our industry has to offer across the state,” Mr Malatt said. “The Ballarat region did particularly well in this year’s awards, with six entries competing for the upcoming shortlist.”
The shortlisted candidates will be announced next month, with an exhibition of entries in early June.
The winners will be announced on Friday, June 26.
“The Victorian Architecture Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the innovative work of our industry and recognise those who have gone above and beyond in the past year.”
