Couch sustained swelling around the injured left knee after likely too much game time in his season debut, via Springbank in the Central Highlands Football League.
North Ballarat Roosters are still to determine the extent and reason for the inflammation.
Couch had been prescribed limited minutes for the Tigers’ clash against Beaufort, which they lost by three points at Wallace after staging a huge fourth-quarter comeback effort.
The Roosters will continue to monitor Couch this week.
Meanwhile, the Roosters’ new co-captain Matt Austin made good progress with Sebastopol in the Ballarat Football League in his return from a shoulder reconstruction. Austin was named in
the Kookaburras’ best in a 64-point loss to Bacchus Marsh.
Fellow Rooster Rowan Marshall dominated in the ruck as the Burras’ best on ground and will be pressing for VFL selection.
Lake Wendouree duo Tyler Blake and Jackson Bowen also impressed in the BFL for the Lakers’ 25-point win against Ballarat.
The Roosters came out seemingly unscathed on the injury front in the VFL from a 35-point win against Collingwood.
Midfielder Lachie George pulled up well under ongoing management for groin strain, and ruckman Orren Stephenson will continue to be assessed for niggling back soreness.
The Roosters are preparing for an Anzac Day match against Werribee at Chirnside Park.
Former Roosters ruckman Eric Wallace is uncertain to line up against the Roosters. The North Melbourne rookie has a knee injury and played with Werribee’s development team last week.
