We have now seen Telstra, IBM, ABN Electrical and Wood 'n' Energy all suffer job losses in recent months.
The Andrews government needs to respond to these job cuts and support Ballarat's growing population with job opportunities.
One obvious lever state governments do have control over when it comes to jobs is the relocation of public sector jobs.
What is needed right now is clearly apparent to all.
Relocate VicRoads to Ballarat.
This will bring 600 new jobs to Ballarat and $60 million of added economic activity to our CBD.
Daniel Andrews doesn't need to do anything other than stop standing in the way of this common sense move.
The preparatory work for the move has been done, we know VicRoads needs to move, the only question is, where to? Frankston or Dandenong?
Mr Premier, if you are serious about jobs, as you claim to be, if you are serious about supporting regional Victoria, replace words with action and start the move of VicRoads to Ballarat.
