VICTORIAN Sport and Recreation Minister Hugh Delahunty says there is still a lot of work to be done but he is pleased with construction progress at Morshead Park.
Mr Delahunty inspected ground level works – including six change rooms, canteen, storage and medical rooms – for the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility pavilion yesterday.
His tour incorporated an upper level, pegged for a multi-purpose social room, that still required additional funding for completion.
But he could see the space’s potential as he admired the view overlooking the venue’s synthetic pitches and lighting.
Mr Delahunty’s tour was part of a visit by senior government ministers to Ballarat this
week.
City of Ballarat deputy mayor Ben Taylor said it was a great chance to showcase work on the project and display the upper level function room.
Stage one of the pavilion received $2 million in state government funding, which fulfils a Coalition promise made in its 2010 election campaign.
The stage is also funded by Ballarat City Council and Ballarat District Soccer Association.
