Electrician Beau Glenister said a red bag containing $2000 of new power tools had been taken from his work ute between 7pm on Sunday and 7am on Monday.
A grinder, impact driver, hammer drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, torch, batteries, charger and radio had been stolen from the ute. Mr Glenister said the tools were locked inside the back of the Holden Rodeo and could only be accessed with a key.
This is the second time in two years Mr Glenister has been robbed, with the initial theft causing him to move from his Wendouree home.
“I have lived in Ballarat all my life and I don’t really want to live here any more,” he said.
“My next house certainly won’t be in Ballarat.”
Mr Glenister had only purchased the tools a fortnight ago and now has to borrow the apprentice’s tools at work.
“Words cannot explain how I feel at the minute,” he said. “I’m not sure if it’s bad luck or just a bad place to live.”
Mr Glenister moved into the Miners Rest home with his fiancee Emily and their daughter in September.
Emily is pregnant with the couple’s second child.
“I’m trying to provide for my family and the little one,” Mr Glenister said.
“It’s hard knowing there are people out there like this who steal from the people out there making money.”
Mr Glenister previously had four wheels from his car stolen in Wendouree about two years ago.
North Ballarat police confirmed they were investigating the incident.
As of Monday afternoon, nobody had been arrested or charged in relation to the theft.
Anyone with information regarding the theft should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
