Ms Hawkins is clearly not up to date with the latest position on wind farms and health from the National Health and Medical Research Council, who announced a targeted call for research (TCR) into wind farms on health on March 24, with $2.5 million allocated over five years.

In its media release for the TCR, the NHMRC wrote:
(The NHMRC) "Reference Group recommended that, "Further evidence is needed to explore the relationships between noise at varying distances from wind farms and effects such as annoyance, sleep and quality of life. Research is also required to investigate the broader social and environmental circumstances that may influence the reporting of health effects in people living near wind farms."
I am intrigued that Ms Hawkins thinks the AMA and Vic Health are able to "show wind energy is clean and safe", when the NHMRC has only just begun to investigate the matter.
