IT WAS virtually a formality, but Dan Jordan will coach East Point again next year.
The Red Lion Kangaroos have re-signed the five time Tony Lockett Medallist for another season following an informal meeting.
East Point president Mick Kitchin said the timing of the announcement, before the end of the season, would be of benefit for this season and heading into next year.
“(Jordan) asked where we were heading and we wanted him to stay,” Kitchin said.
“He’s been doing everything right, taking his coaching to a new level, and maturing in the role.
“I’ve never seen the playing group so united and I’d expect we will not lose any players from this year.”
East Point has enjoyed a dramatic rise up the premiership table this year, from seventh in Jordan’s first season at the helm, to third at worst.
Kitchin said there were no formal targets with regards Jordan’s re-appointment in terms of ladder position or games won.
For Jordan, the timing of the re-appointment means the Kangaroos can look ahead to next year even as the club plots to win this year’s BFL premiership.
“We sat down three weeks ago, to get on the front foot with recruiting,” Jordan said. “We’re still in and the players are concentrating on that.
“But the guys in recruiting are looking at that and need to.
“It’s good to have it done.
“I had offers from other clubs but there was never any question about going anywhere else if I was re-appointed.”
