MADE logo launched in Ballarat

THE Eureka Flag will be the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka’s centrepiece, according to deputy premier Peter Ryan.

Mr Ryan, launching the new MADE logo yesterday, said the $11.1 million centre would be a modern, cultural tourism attraction highlighting Australia’s birth of democracy.

“The Eureka Stockade has become a timepiece of history, having led to new rights and reforms for the gold miners, which paved the way for what we have today,” Mr Ryan said.

“MADE is all about educating visitors on the culture, civics, history and citizenship that evolved from the Eureka Stockade.

“It is not just about the past, but also about the present and future.”

Mr Ryan said MADE’s objectives were to help Australia’s understanding of the Eureka story, boost appreciation of Australian democracy among youth, support the ongoing evolution of democracy and aid Ballarat’s economic and social development.
