Bromley joins Footscray president Susan Alberti to lead a Victorian Football League board this season.

The appointment was made late this week at Eureka Stadium with the unexpected resignation of John McClure, who stepped down for family reasons.

Bromley takes the reigns in an exciting transition period for the club - the Roosters are preparing to go standalone in the VFL next year and North Ballarat's home base has been given the green tick in this month's state government budget for a $15million precinct upgrade.

"I'm very honoured to be entrusted such an amazing role...there are big challenges," Bromley said.

"There's lots of great staff at North and we've got a great board. We're skilled in a whole range of areas at the footy club and I'll be looking to draw on those skills in a shared leadership."

Bromley said McClure has positioned the club in great shape after 4 1/2 years of strong leadership and vision. McClure had succeeded long-serving North chairman Peter Wilson after the Roosters' 2010 premiership season.

Bromley has strong North pedigree.

Her mother Lorna Bromley, sister of Howard "Plugger" Lockett and aunt to Tony, has been president of the North Ballarat ladies committee for more than 30 years, was named VFL volunteer of the year last season and is North Ballarat Hall of Fame's first female inductee.

Bromley's husband is Alan "Dizzy" Lynch, a North Ballarat premiership coach in the Ballarat Football League. Their sons Josh and Sam play senior football for North Ballarat City, while youngest son Tom is in the North junior ranks.

Growing up, Bromley even lived in the house next to Northern Oval.

Away from the field, Bromley is assistant principal at Mount Clear College where her specialties include the college's international and earth education programs.
