In a showing that will put the rest of the league on notice, North Ballarat City have smashed Melton South by 222 points at Eureka Stadium, 35.27 (237) to 2.3 (15).
The romp was led by City's midfield in Jason McNamara, Jarrod Edwards and Josh Bromley-Lynch, with the trio all sure to have leather poisoning tonight.
They weren't the only ones doing the damage for North though, with South ruckman Justin White the only Panther who could claim that he won his position.
City's long list of goalkickers was headed by Derick Micallef with 7 goals, Matt Coon with 6 and Jayden Orr and James Cusack with 5 apiece.
Cusack left the field in the first term before returning with shoulder strapping, while South's Michael Callus also had an extended stint on the pine but returned after half time.
BACCHUS MARSH 14.12 d BALLARAT 13.6 (84)
Bacchus Marsh have survived a spirited Ballarat challenge at Maddingley Park to win 14.12.96 to 13.6.84.
The Cobras were in complete control in the first term, booting 7 goals to the Swans' 1, but after an Ash Baker spray that could be heard from afar at quarter time Ballarat lifted their intensity.
The Swans slowly reeled Bacchus Marsh in, drawing level during the third quarter and trailing by a solitary point at the last change, but two Ben Peters goals in 4 minutes to start the term gave the Cobras the buffer they needed.
Cam Richardson was everywhere for Bacchus Marsh, while Logan Blundell seemed to break a line with every possession, even after a heavy collision in the third term that saw Swan David O'Neill finished for the day with shoulder and head injuries.
For Ballarat, Adam Sewell created well and Tristan May did a power of grunt work in the middle.
Peter Sheperd booted 5 majors for Bacchus Marsh while Nigel Otto slotted 4 of his own for the Swans.
LAKE WENDOUREE 12.10 (82) d REDAN 8.13 (61)
Lake Wendouree sounded its arrival with a barnstorming 21-point win over previously undefeated Redan.
The Lakers kicked eight goals to one after half time to register its biggest win in years, thrilling the bumper crowd at Wendouree Reserve.
A Steve Clifton goal from outside 50m after the three quarter time siren summed up the day for the Lakers, capping off a brilliant quarter in which they kicked five goals and restricted the Lions to just one behind.
Ash Simpson was outstanding in the midfield and Clifton was instrumental in the second half revival.
Luke Bucknall kicked three goals, with Lucas Anderson and Tom Carey proving too hard to handle down forward.
For Redan, Jarod Bacon was one of their better performers with three goals to his name, while Mitch Phelps was active all day.
The result lifts the Lakers to the top of the ladder, while Redan drops to second.
EAST POINT 22.13 (145) d SEBASTOPOL 7.7 (49)
A mark of the year contender to high-flying forward Michael Powell was one of the few highlights for Sebastopol, which was comprehensively beaten by East Point.
The Burra showed some form in the first quarter to only trail by two points, but fell away sharply after that.
Mikitja Rotumah-Onus kicked six goals for the Kangaroos, while Jordan Taylor booted three.
Daniel Semmens was named best on ground, with Andrew Stevenson also among the better performers.
Rowan Marshall was once again best on ground for Sebastopol in another top performance that has seen him become one of the premier ruckmen in the league.
East Point now sits at 3-2 heading into the interleague bye, while Sebastopol is winless.
SUNBURY 12.10 (82) d MELTON 6.9 (45)
Sunbury piled on nine goals to three in the last half to run away 12.10 (82) to 6.9 (45) winners over Melton at Clarke Oval under lights.
The match was tight for the first half before Jack Landt booted two of his three goals within a minute in the third term to create a match winning buffer.
The Bloods had their chances in the last term though, but couldnt convert, kicking 1.5 before Sunbury iced the game with late goals, including one of Ben Guthrie's three for the game.
It was the midfield brigade that did the damage for the Lions, with Landt, Matthew Medcraft and Andrew Duhau all fed well by ruckman David Kovacevic.
For the Bloods, Ryan Davis and coach Brad Murphy battled hard, while Braeden Kight kicked two early goals.
The Lions lost Nathan Wood in the first term with a shoulder injury, while Melton's Nick Gale limped off early in the last quarter.
