PEDRO the green iguana was in fine company on Thursday, meeting one of his admirers in Erik “The Lizardman” Sprague.
The Austin-based star is in Ballarat for the World Sideshow Festival, running from May 21 to 23.
Before the opening night he paid tribute to some local fans at the Ballarat Wildlife Park.
Lizardman said Pedro was good company, if a bit antsy.
“He’s good, pretty friendly,” he said.
Looking forward to his shows, he said it was also a good chance to catch up with some fellow performers.
“I brought a couple of the stunts I’m known for, like the giant corkscrew I put through my head and pierced weightlifting, for which I got a world record last year,” he said.
“Other than that, I’m excited to hang out with a bunch of my friends and see their shows that I haven’t got to see before.”
Festival organiser Shep Huntly said it was a coup to get Lizardman to Ballarat.
“He’s performed at every major sideshow on the planet and for us to have him – this is the only gig he’s doing in Australia – he’s just here for three days. “He’s the top of the tree. He’s not doing Melbourne, he’s not doing Sydney, he’s just doing Ballarat.”
The World Sideshow Festival is on at 8.30pm at the Ballaarat Mechanics Institute on Friday and 7.30pm on Saturday.
