Emma Geddes has been appointed sales manager, with Eugene Duffy appointed as editor.
Mr Duffy, 47, has been with The Courier for four years and has previously worked across regional Victoria, including The Bendigo Advertiser and Wimmera Mail Times.
Mr Duffy said The Courier would continue the great work the newspaper had been doing for Ballarat for almost 150 years.
“The Courier is deeply valued in the Ballarat region,” he said.
“This is an exciting time with a new look and new publishing system just around the corner and even more digital offerings online – but at heart The Courier remains the same, a media organisation dedicated to serving, informing and entertaining the Ballarat community.”
He will be supported by long-standing content director Kim Quinlan who has been appointed deputy editor and who will also oversee The Advocate which serves Daylesford region.
Victoria Group sales manager Jade Morrison said Ms Geddes had served The Courier sales team for more than 13 years with experience across all aspects of advertising in print and online.
“Emma understands the challenges local businesses face in today’s ever-changing marketing environment and is keen to help all business, big and small, adapt to those challenges through strategic use of The Courier’s ever-growing suite of marketing options.”
Ms Geddes and Mr Duffy fill the positions of Ms Morrison and Andrew Eales who moved into statewide roles within Fairfax Media’s Australia Community Media division earlier this year.
