However, Sunday’s Corporate Challenge Regatta at Lake Wendouree will determine just that.
A major fundraiser for the Wendouree-Ballarat Rowing Club, the event will see businesses including Sovereign Hill, the Financial Planning Association of Australia, Heinz and Partners and the staff from Phoenix P-12 Community College battle it out on the lake. Club secretary Kelly Steegstra said the event was more than just friendly competition.
“It’s designed for local businesses or organisations to develop their teamwork skills, build relationships and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere for networking and meeting people across the Ballarat business community,” she said.
“All four crews have participated in a five-week rowing program with our team of coaches and are looking forward to demonstrating their skills and athletic prowess on Sunday.
“Our financial planners crew were fortunate enough to have some special coaching recently from a secret weapon – Olympic gold medallist James Tomkins – which was quite exciting.”
The crews will race in 500-metre timed heats, followed by a handicapped final that will occur about 11am.
