A man has been charged with seven counts of rape after a girl was sexually assaulted in her bed in a bungalow in Melbourne's south east.

Samuel Aldrich, 18, of Cheltenham, contacted police on Saturday and was questioned by investigators at the Sexual Crime Squad headquarters.
The girl, 16, was sleeping in the bungalow at the rear of her family home in Devon Street, Cheltenham, on Thursday at about 2.30am, when she was woken by a man sitting on her bed.
The man allegedly spoke to the girl and threatened to produce a knife before sexually assaulting her.
On Friday, police said the man remained in the bungalow for about an hour before leaving.
He also allegedly offered her money to compensate for the assault, saying his own parents would be disappointed in him, Senior Sergeant Jason Walsh said on Friday.
"It was a very serious sexual assault," Senior Sergeant Walsh said. "And she's an extremely brave young woman."
On Friday, the girl's father broke down as he made a public appeal for the attacker to come forward and described his daughter's strength.
Aldrich is also charged with seven counts of indecent assault and one count of aggravated burglary.
He has been remanded in custody.
