Treasurer Hockey's budget speech was deafeningly silent on environment and climate change.
The next budget halves current spending on environment-related issues, even eliminating PM Abbott's "Green Army". If the budget establishes Australia's priorities for the next years, such silence and cuts assert how little we value or understand climate change's "threat to global security (and) national security".
Would PM Abbott and our government please explain what actions they are taking now to prepare Australia to respond to this national and global threat? It would be shocking to learn our government is negligent or being derelict of duty.
