TOURIST museum Sovereign Hill is encouraging people to take a step back in time in an effort to change their future during the Make Cancer History walk this weekend.

Sovereign Hill will hold its annual Make Cancer History walk on Sunday to raise money for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Visitors should arrive at 8.30am for a 9am start, when they can walk a two-kilometre or four-kilometre lap of the facility, including behind the scenes of the Blood on the Southern Cross set, which is usually not open to the public.
For those wanting more of a challenge, they can choose to run the course and even cover a couple of laps.
Sovereign Hill chief executive officer Jeremy Johnson said the museum was magical in the morning, as the animals woke up and it slowly came to life.
“Most of us are touched by cancer at some point in our lives, whether it be personally or through a loved one,” Mr Johnson said.
“Our Make Cancer History walk unites the community and brings together people who have been in some way affected by cancer.”
Fiona Elsey board member Paula Nicholson said it was part of a long partnership between the two internationally recognised Ballarat organisations.
“It’s also a nice touch after the walk to sit and enjoy a morning tea, courtesy of Sovereign Hill’s catering company Delaware, and see the park come to life as its doors open.”
Those walking will also receive free entry into Sovereign Hill for the day.
