Back for the second year, the event draws together coders with the aim of accessing government data and making it better.
Teams sift through official government data sets to find new ideas, or ways of reusing the data, with prizes on offer.
Ballarat is one of 14 locations Australia-wide where coders can participate.
The City of Ballarat has sponsored the event and will also provide datasets for the competition.
“The national GovHack competition has become an iconic event bringing government and the coding community together to find better, more useful and innovative ways of putting government datasets to work for the good of the community,” Ballarat organiser George Fong said.
Govhack Ballarat 2015 will be held on 3rd – 5th July and once again will be held at Ballarat Technology Park Central in the heart of Ballarat’s CBD, 106 Lydiard Street South.
