From the outset the Cobras seemed to have the advantage, but it was the final term when the game really blew open.
The ability of Bacchus Marsh to move the ball from congestion to scoring opportunities was exceptional and underlined that the club may have a part to play at the pointy end of the season.
East Point was able to stay with the Cobras for three quarters but quickly fell away when the game stepped up another gear.
Tyson Shea and Peter Shepherd were both highly influential in the Cobras' win.

Brenton Riordan, Ashley Barker, Mitchell Phelps, Grant Bell, Nicholas Willox, Matthew Colbert, Dean Matthew and Matthew Cullinan all bagged two goals in what was a dominant spread for the Lions.

The Lions led by just 15 at half time, before running all over Sunbury in the second half.

Melton South 22.16 (148) d Sebastopol 12.10 (82)
Melton South registered its first win of the season with a thumping 66-point win over Sebastopol in the battle of the winless sides.
The Burras came out on firing in the opening quarter to lead by 27 points at the first break.
Searching for its first win in almost three years, it seemed the Sebastopol hoodoo would be broken early on, but that first term was as good as it got for the Burras.
From then on it was all Melton South, who out the Burras to the sword with a nine-goal final term.
Frank Holzer kicked six goals for Melton South, while Michae Powell kicked three for Sebastopol.
North Ballarat 17.16 (118) d Darley 13.13 (91)
North Ballarat have defeated a spirited Darley outfit at Darley Park by 27 points.
Derick Micallef booted seven goals in the win, with Marcus Darmody slotting three.
Up by eight points at quarter time and 24 at the main break, North were simply too good in transition, piercing the Devil's backline with precision and pace through Josh Bromley-Lynch, Jarrod Edwards and Jason McNamara.
Darley fought back and hit the front in the third, with Steven Kennedy, Shane Page and Nathan Lyons all brilliant in the middle.
They couldn't continue the momentum in the last though, with two early North goals and numerous intercept marks from Ryan Hobbs giving them a winning buffer.
For the Devils Ryan Closter kicked three goals while Dane Grenfell and Rhys Ellis booted two each.
Darley's Corey Cullen limped off in the third term but returned in the last while Ayden George and Derick Micallef both came from the field in the last looking sore.
