The Geelong product claimed his second consecutive Athletics Victoria XCR’15 Series win with the Lake Wendouree Road Race title on Saturday.
Wightman held off Box Hill's Stephen Kelly and Frankston's Josh Harris in the open men's 15-kilometre circuit in a time of 45 minutes and 49.6 seconds.
Kelly finished in 46:01.5, while Harris crossed the line in 46:18.1.
The win follows on from Wightman's XCR'15's second round triumph at Lardner Park earlier this month.
"It's a bit different (to Lardner Park) I've done a bit more training around the Barwon River for preparation for this on the road - I felt good today," Wightman said post race.
"It was pretty fast from the start, the last lap ended up was just the four of us, Brady (Threlfall), Josh (Harris), Stephen (Kelly) and myself.
"Steve took over the last probably 2km and I took over Steve in the last kilometre."
Meanwhile, South Melbourne's Sinead Diver claimed her eighth consecutive XCR win in the 15-kilometre open women's race.
Diver, set to make her debut in Australian colours in the World Championships in Beijing in August, beat Gemma Maini and Virginia Moloney for the title in 52:04.7.
