The Five Mile Press announces that entries are now open for this year's Illustrator's Prize and close July 27. The winner will receive a $4000 publishing contract. The competition is open to any Australian resident over 18 years of age who does not have any current or pending contracts to publish illustrations in book form in Australia or overseas. Short-story competition
A new short-story competition in honour of Tasmanian short-story writer Geoff Dean has been launched.The Geoff Dean Short Story Competition will run biennially and is open to all Australian writers for outstanding short fiction between 3000-10,000 words. The competition closes on July 13. The winner, who will be awarded $2000, will be announced on September 13 at the Tasmanian Writers and Readers Festival at Hadley's Orient Hotel. Copyright Agency's $40,000 writing fellowship
The Copyright Agency has announced it will award a $40,000 Fellowship to a mid-to-late career author for the development and creation of a new work. The fellowship is open to novelists, playwrights, poets, scriptwriters, non-fiction writers, children's book authors and journalists with at least five published works and a contract in place for the work they are seeking support for.
