It comes after many commuters labelled the new Regional Rail Link timetable a failure following its launch on Monday.
Those new carriages are expected to be rolling off manufacturer Bombardier’s production line within days before being put to use in Ballarat.
A release from local MPs blamed some of the problem on “boarding delays” experienced “as people (got) used to the new timetable”.
While the majority of the state have had an almost seamless and positive change, Ballarat train commuters have been struck down by delays and overcrowding.
Although Buninyong MP Geoff Howard flagged the possibility of more new services to come following the introduction of an extra Ballarat peak service this week.
“In the coming weeks we will deliver two additional carriages in the morning and evening peak, further helping to meet demand for Ballarat passengers,” he said.
Ballarat commuters have provided consistent feedback to The Courier since the start of this week, lamenting the service that has been provided since Monday.
Numerous passengers have said they have arrived to work late and have spent the best part of the hour and 10 minute journey standing or sitting in the aisle.
A plan is already in place for new carriages to come online on a monthly basis, however these will need to speed across much of the state.
Wendouree MP Sharon Knight admitted it had not been a good start to the RRL timetable launch.
“I have spoken directly to the minister (for transport Jacinta Allan) yesterday and today about what the commuters have been experiencing, I spoke to her yesterday about the need for more carriages immediately,” she said.
“On top of that I have said Ballarat needs to be a priority for further carriages.”
Ms Knight said V/Line had told her the line was experiencing some “teething problems” which were expected to be solved.
Prior to the launch of the new timetable, Ballarat commuters were experiencing a run of positive performance results including great punctuality figures, which had not been seen for months.
New carriages are expected to be constructed every month under a new Labor government plan, however, there is no firm decision as to what lines will receive them.
