Accuracy was a theme for the day and it was polar opposites between the two sides. Buninyong could not take a trick in getting the Sherrin through the big sticks - kicking 11.19 (85) – while the Towners managed 12.4 (76).
It was not until half way through the last quarter that the visitors got hold of the game, with Ned Gilbert kicking two goals while creating some drive from the midfield. Towners flanker Rhys Cahir kicked two in succession midway through the final term to put his team 14 points ahead, but the Bombers’ class and poise under pressure prevailed.
Dunnstown small forward Matt Auchettl was dangerous inside forward 50m, putting on a crumbing clinic to kick four goals, while ruckman Chris Oliver was important for the winners.
