The win was set up through pockets of complete Devil domination, including three Jake Edwards goals in four minutes in the third term and three quick goals to start the fourth. Devil Rhys Ellis kicked four majors.
Lake Wendouree started stronger when Darley’s kicking efficiency was low. Devils’ coach Jarrod Edwards put the slow start down to the increased intensity of the match compared to their past two outings.
The Devils opened the third quarter with an onslaught of five majors to take control but the Lakers kept fighting via the relentless work of Andrew Pitson (four goals) and Nathan Pring.
