The funding is expected to go towards the Blended Learning Program  which increases the focus on e-learning. 

Deputy vice-chancellor  Professor  Andy Smith said the change would make TAFE much more convenient for students. 

“The funding is for an e-learning project in TAFE so it will allow us to put more of our vocational education, which is for our apprentices and trainees, online,” he said. 

“Not that we go completely online, but students can access the learning material in different ways, from home or from a computer.

“It is just more flexible so what it means is that we can bring more students into TAFE, which is really what we want to do.”

Both Buninyong MP Geoff Howard and Wendouree MP Sharon Knight made the announcement on Tuesday. 

“This is going to really revolutionise TAFE,” Mr Howard. 

“It opens up TAFE to so many more people.”

Ms Knight echoed this sentiment saying more students will be able to access the training and coursework online as well as in the classroom. 

“People who live in the regional Victoria can find it hard to get to a campus to study,” she said.
