The Ballarat Suicide Prevention Network is organising a 2km walk around the shores of Lake Wendouree, which will begin at 5.30am on Saturday.
Each day six Australians are lost to suicide, so the second annual Out of the Shadows Walk is set to increase awareness.
Organiser and Ballarat Police Acting Sergeant Des Hudson said participants would gather from 5.15am at the rotunda near Pipers Restaurant at the lake.
“During the walk we will be pausing at a number of locations for various reflections, remembering people who have committed suicide,” Acting Sergeant Hudson said.
He said the network gave people the opportunity to connect with local service agencies which provided services to prevent and deal with the consequences of suicide.
“The Rotary Club of Ballarat South will cook a special barbecue breakfast for participants in the walk at the conclusion,” Acting Sergeant Hudson said.
