North Ballarat Rebels return to Eureka Stadium on Saturday vying to keep their streak alive with a 10th consecutive TAC Cup under-18 win.
North Warrnambool youngster Zac Urquhart has been called up for his TAC Cup debut. Urquhart has been in good form playing Hampden league seniors and the Rebels are keen to test his game. Portland’s Jake Edwards has also been recalled to the Rebels’ line up after playing good senior football the past month, also in the Hampden league.
Forward Matt Johnston will be a strong inclusion in his return from Vic Country duties the past month in the AFL national under-18 championships.
Meanwhile, Vic Country polished off its AFL under-18 title undefeated with a 32-point win against Western Australia at Simonds Stadium, Geelong on Thursday.
Rebel Jarrod Berry (Horsham Saints) chalked up 22 disposals (15 kicks) and nine marks in the victory while Rebels captain Darcy Tucker (Horsham Saints) had 21 disposals and Yestin Eades (St Patrick’s College) played a handy role up forward against his old home state.
Jacob Hopper was named NSW/ACT Rams’ most valuable player for their division two campaign. Hopper and fellow Rebel Connor Byrne featured in the Rams’ 38-point loss to Queensland at Simonds Stadium on Thursday.
Rebel Daniel Rioli was also quick to catch attention for his exciting game in division two action on Wednesday. Rioli had 15 disposals and booted two goals in Northern Territory’s 13-point loss to Tasmania at Etihad Stadium. Rebel Ezikiel Frank booted two goals for NT.
