Among those appointed is Ballarat’s Kay Macaulay, who will serve as a director of V/Line.
Ms Macaulay is a former Australian Industry Group regional manager.
While she could not disclose the nature of her role or what action V/Line would undertake to fix existing problems with the Ballarat to Melbourne train line, Ms Macaulay said it was pleasing to get the role.
“From a personal point of view it's nice," she said.
“I’m pleased to be a Ballarat representative (on the board).”
Her appointment follows on the back of a catastrophic opening few weeks of the Regional Rail Link’s new schedule for the Ballarat line.
While the majority of the state have had an almost seamless and positive change, Ballarat train commuters have been struck down by delays and overcrowding.
Ms Macaulay is one of three directors named, with Jenny Dawson to chair V/Line, while Craig Cook was appointed as deputy chair.
Ms Dawson has served 15 years as a director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Ltd and is currently chair of Sandhurst Trustees Ltd.
Ms Dawson also has considerable experience in regional development strategy, including as former secretary of the Victorian Department of Human Services.
Meanwhile, Patricia Faulkner has been named to chair Public Transport Victoria.
Ms Faulkner is a former secretary of the Victorian Department of Human Services.
Meanwhile, Geraldine Gray and Collette Burke will serve as directors of VicTrack.
Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said she believed the V/Line board would provide voices from right across regional Victoria.
"In considering the make up of the V/Line board I was very keen that it had very strong regional voices given that it is a service that is focused on delivering for regional Victoria," Ms Allan said.
"I am very confident they (the board) will be representative of not only their areas but also all regional communities."
