The McDonald’s Red Devils meet the struggling Nunawading City in a cross division match at Nunawading – their longest road trip of the season.
City is yet to win and sits on the bottom of the NPLV1 east table without a point.
The Reds have built some stability as the season has worn on.
They have lost just the two games in their past 11 league outings. Five of these have been wins and this could easily have been more.
Coach James Robinson said the Reds were making a conscious effort to get the most out of the last 11 games.
“There’s a possible 33 points on the table, we’ve got a game in hand on the top two. It’s all about making the most of our opportunities.
“We’ve sat down and had a good look at it (promotion). We need to kick on, but it’s viable,” he said.
Josh Romein returns from suspension to bolster Ballarat, while Callum Ferguson is also back after being unavailable. Jason Hill is out suspended.
Robinson has also taken the opportunity to promote goalkeeper Ryan Schorback from the under-16s to sit on the bench.
Robinson said he had emphasised to his players to ignore Nunawading’s record.
“It’s no good just looking at results. If you haven’t seen them play, you can make a judgment. You need to give them respect,” he said.
